This gorgeous re-use of 50’s and 60’s era (1957 and 1961) Hood milk crates and mechanics creepers’ wheels makes quite the statement as this portable end table and night stand.

These antique Hood milk crates are sturdy and well built, very rare and hard to find in good condition after 50-60 years of use. (A search on eBay will show some of these crates listed at $300+ each). These particular ones have been carefully cleaned and restored, retaining the classic galvanized look while removing all the major tarnish and corrosion. The maple and birch sides, inside and out, have also been delicately sanded and coated with Teak oil.

Galvanized corner brackets and white oak flooring turned into picture-framed panels connect it all together. The top panel is charred and wire-brushed on one side, in an old finish method called Shu-sugi ban. Both sides are finished with oil; the bottom showing the exposed flooring, and interchangeable depending on preference. A high quality Quirky pivot power cord strip is built in to the back to use as a mobile power station for charging phones, alarm clocks, and devices.
